As exam stress starts to sink in, culinary arts student Claire updates us on campus life…
The pressure is on… Why? Exams are just around the corner. Within the month, all of our hard work will have either paid off or gone up in flames, as they say. (Hopefully, not literally – Haha). We’ve been revising like mad over the past few weeks and we’re going to carry on revising everything we’ve learned over these last 10 months…right up until our exams kick off. Its ridiculous how many small details you forget (especially me as an old fogie) and I find myself sometimes thinking “did we really learn about that months ago? Feels like yesterday.” #FreakOut
Completing revision tests is my favourite way of studying. I also love open book tests where I can go and search for the answers, or even write up my answer and go and check afterwards and see where I went wrong (or right). I guess that is kind of how I view this whole year and all the work we’ve done at culinary school, and if I don’t remember what I have been through and learnt and experienced, then what is the point?
Mixed emotions
These past 10 months have been the best time of my life and I know it’s the beginning of new and better things to come. Just remembering some of the awesome times that I have had with my friends here on campus brings a smile to my face, and a little sadness that we are going to part next year, but I know that we will still see each other often and do things together regularly, which makes me happy.
For years to come, I know that I will continually remind myself of these wonderful days we’ve enjoyed and remember with fondness just why it is beautiful to be a chef.
