We have a bursary scheme available for our 2nd and 3rd year students based on academic performance and need. Applications for these close at the end of each tuition year and are awarded for the following year of study. International Hotel School students must contact their Academic Administrator for more information.

Our course work is broken up into weekly manageable modules, with incremental deadlines, designed to help balance your work and studies, to pace yourself over the duration of the course.

An international student may register as a student at a South African Educational Institute only after having obtained a study permit from the South African Embassy or Mission in the student’s home country. Upon acceptance, a prospective student needs to pay a non-refundable deposit to verify their intention to study with the International Hotel School. A Visa application letter will then be issued to be used in the application process for a Study Visa.

  1. All full-time foreign students are required by South African law to have a valid study visa.

  2. Please note – proof of Study Visa needs to be presented before registration day, to enable you to register.

Most international school qualifications will allow you to be accepted for admission to study full time at International Hotel School. A certificate of evaluation is required from the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA). The admission requirement for the programme must be met.

See “Evaluations of Foreign Qualifications” (, under services on the SAQA website. Due to privacy laws, all applications to SAQA must be done by the student directly and International Hotel School is not able to assist in this process. Applications can be done online directly through their website. Fees do apply which are payable directly to SAQA.
