Obi Josephat Chukwuebuka is carving out an impressive path in the culinary world. Since completing his studies at the International Hotel School, he has risen quickly through the ranks — from early roles in Abuja and Lagos to leading the kitchen as Head Chef at Soho Lagos. His journey reflects the power of preparation, resilience and passion for the craft.

“My journey began just as my studies were coming to an end. I received two job offers in Cape Town, but my desire to stay close to family brought me back home to Nigeria. Shortly after, I accepted a role as Head Chef at Bull & Gate Restaurant in Abuja.

After three months, I relocated to Lagos and joined IBIC Holdings as a Junior Sous Chef at Nest restaurant. Within just a month, I was promoted to Senior Sous Chef. My time at Nest lasted six months and was filled with valuable experiences and growth.

Now, I’m proud to have taken the next step in my career as the Head Chef at Soho Lagos, a fine dining establishment in the heart of Lagos, under T & N Holdings.

This journey has been a testament to what happens when preparation meets opportunity. Every skill and lesson I gained from International Hotel School has equipped me to embrace new challenges with confidence and a commitment to constant growth. I continue to strive for excellence, every step of the way.”

Now at the helm of a fine dining kitchen, Obi continues to build on the strong foundation he gained at IHS, embracing each new challenge with confidence and drive. His story is a reminder that with hard work, skill and a commitment to growth, the possibilities in hospitality are endless.
