Currently working as a Line Cook II at the iconic Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs, Nkanyiso brings his passion for food and pastry to life each morning in one of America’s most celebrated hospitality destinations. From early inspiration to an education that sharpened both skill and ambition, his story is a testament to the global reach and lasting impact of a career grounded in excellence and love for the craft.

 

Tell us about your current role in Colorado — what kind of work are you doing?
I am currently working on the line as a Line Cook II in breakfast.

 

What inspired you to specialise in pastry, and what do you love most about it?
Childhood memories, growing up in a family that valued food and cooking. For me, it has always been a dream to be a chef.

How did your time at International Hotel School prepare you for the international hospitality world?
My time at the International Hotel School was truly transformative! It was a culinary journey that not only honed my cooking skills but also broadened my perspective of the world of hospitality.

 

What has been a standout moment or proudest achievement in your career so far?
As a chef, I’ve been fortunate to have had many incredible moments and achievements throughout my career. But if I had to choose one standout moment, it would be when I showcase my culinary skills alongside some of the world’s top chefs.

 

Any advice for aspiring pastry chefs or those considering studying Pastry Arts?

  • Develop a strong foundation.
  • Practice, practice, practice!
  • Experiment and innovate.
  • Learn about different cultures and cuisines.
