The Sandton Campus #NekNominationSA is a proud moment!

How it started

After receiving a #NekNominationSA from the Cape Town Campus (amazing stuff guys – check out their video here, the Sandton team knew they had to go above and beyond to impress the socks off of everyone. The original #NekNomination game which went viral on YouTube was criticised for encouraging reckless drinking and silly games that sometimes ended in tragedy. Following on from the call of South African Brent Lindeque from #NekNominationSA to turn the game into a chance to give back to those less fortunate, Sandton campus didn’t hesitate to take up the challenge and give back to the 4 legged kind.

Why Puppy & Kitty Haven?

Kitty & Puppy Haven , are an amazing facility that rescue, rehabilitate and provide sanctuary to injured, abused, neglected and abandoned animals from squatter camps, townships and other low-income areas. They provide veterinary treatment, primary healthcare and sterilisation, ultimately securing permanent, loving homes for these animals. In the spirit of Paying it Forward, Sandton Campus got together to get involved with this organisation and support their needs!

Making it happen

Responding to a dire need for fresh grass to be planted in the dogs walking area at Kitty & Puppy Haven, the Sandton students quickly got to work raising funds and collecting donations to be able to pay for and ultimately plant the grass they so desperately needed.  Students also teamed up at the haven to give some pooches a much needed wash, complete with cuddles and hugs along the way. The culinary students baked wholesome and healthy dog treats to feed the pooches and those went down so well!
