Our industry is so diverse with many different avenues and sectors to consider for employment. For example, you could work in any of the following sectors:
- Hotels, resorts and Game lodges – manage a hotel or collection of hotels or enter the world of project management for various resorts, sports and entertainment venues, casinos and more.
- Restaurants and all other types of food service operations require supervisors, managers and consultants to manage the smooth running of each and every operation.
- Operations management can be extended to Front Office, Housekeeping, Guest Relations and more.
- Become a Departmental Manager in Sales & Marketing, Human Resources, Training or Finance with our internationally recognised hospitality qualifications.
- Cruise ships, airlines and luxury passenger rail offer plenty of opportunity to travel whilst you are employed giving you an opportunity to learn about new cultures and gain new skills along the way.

What can you study at IHS?
The International Hotel School offers a range of hospitality and culinary full-time, traineeship and online learning programmes. Take a look:
Full-time study
- These programmes consists of 50% academic (classroom) study and 50% work integrated learning (practical) which takes place in leading hospitality establishments.
- The programme’s equal emphasis on both academic and work integrated learning ensures that graduates are job-ready.
- You can study the following full-time programmes:
- You pay a tuition fee and need to cover the costs of your transport and accommodation.
Traineeship studies
- Based on well-established apprenticeship principles, a Traineeship is an “earn-while-you-learn” alternative to full-time tertiary education.
- Trainees are selected via a series of interviews to be trained at a Hotel (usually a distance away from each Campus).
- You can study:
- Trainees study via distance and online learning whilst working at a hospitality establishment and they also receive a small allowance.
- Trainees pay a tuition fee and need to cover the costs of their transport and accommodation in most instances. Some trainee’s live-in, depending on their placement.
- Trainees need their own computer with internet capability to make contact with online tutors.
IHS Online Campus
- International Hotel School’s Online Campus is an online study platform for those working in the hospitality industry who wish to improve or update their knowledge, or for those interested in studying hospitality without the commitment of attending a course full-time.
- We offer a variety of full qualifications and short courses developed in consultation with industry. Online students can study single courses, 5-course specialisations or Higher Certificates programmes. Notes, assignments and group discussions all take place online through the assistance of online tutors.
