P&O Cruise’s latest ship, Britannia, hasn’t even set sail yet and already it’s the talk of the town. It’s promising to be a foodie extravaganza dotted with celebrity interludes and meal time indulgences worth bragging about whilst it sails along some of Europe’s most sought after coast lines.  And if you’re lucky enough to be one of the 3647 passengers on board, there is so much for you to look forward to. So let the name dropping begin…

A food lover’s haven

Cruising around with celebrity chefs could be a culinary coupIn 7 months time, Britannia will set sail on her maiden voyage and guests are totally spoiled for choice when it comes to the 13 bars and 13 restaurants on offer. First off, there’s The Cookery Club, aka a school for cookery basically, which will offer guests cooking lessons by none other than one of Britain’s most famous culinary faces, James Martin. A new innovation for P&O, The Cookery Club is a dedicated space on deck 17, comprising of 12 cook stations (hosting 24 guests in total), allowing for a fully interactive culinary experience. This is a great opportunity for guests to learn from the professionals, whether you are a beginner or an experienced cook, through a range of two hour long classes. Culinary lessons include local British fare, Mediterranean dishes, Thai street food and more, and participants will get the opportunity to enjoy the fruits of their labour alongside James once their lesson is finished.

Celebrity Chefs at every corner

Cruising around with celebrity chefs could be a culinary coup!Another great food hero moment is the chance to enjoy a gala dinner cooked to perfection by 3 star Michelin restaurant icon and Chef extraordinaire Marco Pierre Whiteof L’Escargot fame. And then to add a little sweet temptation to this smorgasbord of culinary excellence, French Patissier Eric Lanlard – a whizz with all things sugar related (and who had designed wedding cakes for Madonna, Liz Hurley and Claudia Schiffer) – will supply his dessert and sweet selections to Britannia’s Market Cafe. British cheese expert Charlie Turnbull has also been recruited to select a very special cheese menu for Britannia (including some delicious tapas items) and Michelin-starred chef Atul Kochhar will serve up flavours from his native India at Sindhu, one of the ship’s signature dining experiences.

Chin, chin, bottoms up darling!

Cruising around with celebrity chefs could be a culinary coup!If you think the team from P&O have forgotten about the drinks part of this experience, think again! Renowned wine connoisseur Olly Smith has ensured that the on board wine selections and food pairings are out of this world, and if wine is not your thing, you can also enjoy exotic and speciality cocktails in the Blue Bar, or you could choose your own style of G&T from the British gin-and-tonic menu, available at the Crow’s Nest.

With all the fabulous celebrity love, fine food and delicious fizz, we won’t hold it against you if you don’t feel like exploring when you dock. There’s far too much fun to be had on board!
