What will I learn?

This qualification is designed for individuals pursuing a career in the food and beverage service industry within the broader hospitality sector. It integrates key aspects of food and beverage preparation, service and supervisory responsibilities. The qualification is relevant across a wide range of establishments — from small restaurants and cafés to large hotels and conference venues — equipping learners with the practical skills and industry knowledge needed to thrive in diverse hospitality environments.

This qualification prepares learners for a wide range of roles within the hospitality industry, with a focus on food and beverage service operations. Graduates will be equipped with essential customer service, communication and service delivery skills, enabling them to provide high-quality guest experiences across various hospitality environments.

Learners will gain hands-on competence in areas such as table and drink service, handling and maintaining equipment, maintaining hygiene and safety standards, and managing workplace operations. The qualification also develops foundational skills in verbal and written communication, numeracy and cultural awareness, supporting effective teamwork and professional conduct.

In addition to operational skills, the qualification fosters supervisory capabilities, including staff training, on-the-job coaching, function supervision and workflow planning. Learners will also be introduced to sector-specific knowledge, such as the structure of the hospitality, travel and tourism industries, and gain insights into career development and self-employment opportunities.

By the end of the programme, learners will be ready to contribute confidently and competently to hospitality service environments — from restaurants and hotels to events and catering operations.
