Culinary Arts Programme

  • 1-year or 2-year programme
  • Minimum entry requirements - Grade 10, although National Senior Certificate preferred
  • Two intakes per year: January and June

This intensive cookery programme provides students with the relevant theory, background and practical cookery skills ideal for those wishing to build their career in the field of professional cookery. Students have an option to do an additional second year in either Patisserie (6 months) or Culinary Supervision (6 months) or both (second year Culinary Arts).

This programme consists of 50% academic study (classroom) and 50% Work Integrated Learning (practical), which takes place in leading hospitality establishments. The programmes equal emphasis on both academic and Work Integrated Learning ensures that graduates are job-ready.

Upon successful completion of this programme, graduates will receive:

  • National Certificate in Professional Cookery NQF 4 (SAQA ID No: 14111)
  • City & Guilds Diploma in Food Preparation and Cooking (Culinary Arts)

During this programme students will complete the following ancillary courses:

  • Basic Fire Fighting
  • Basic First Aid

This programme includes the CTH Culinary Arts qualification, which has been developed in partnership with Gordon Ramsay’s Tante Marie Culinary Academy.

Upon successful completion of this programme, graduates will receive:

  • National Certificate in Professional Cookery NQF 4 (SAQA ID No: 14111)
  • CTH Diploma in Professional Culinary Arts
  • City & Guilds Diploma in Food Preparation and Cooking (Culinary Arts)
