As 2018 starts to wind down, there are a lot of us that use this time to reflect on our goals, careers and plans for 2019. There are those of us that have been battling to find a good read that will inspire us to become good leaders and different thinkers, to help us go further in our careers or possibly one day take that leap of faith and open our own businesses.

There are plenty of CEO’s and entrepreneurs that have built their empires from scratch, and a fantastic example would be Mike Lambert. We often think that in order to climb to the top of the ladder you need a healthy bank balance or a personal mentor that will guide you along the way, but a lot of people have found great guidance in reading. They have read motivational books or autobiographies that have shown them the ins and outs of business, what to do and what not to do.

Here’s an interesting fact, Invictus Education Group’s CEO, Mike Lambert reads a book per week. A “bookworm” is the best word that you could use to describe him. From reading he has become a successful entrepreneur, and turned his passion for education and the hospitality industry into Africa’s Leading Hotel and Culinary School, offering a variety of nationally and internationally hospitality and culinary programmes.

After a long busy day at work, the last thing you want to do is troll through the net and see what others are recommending as good books to read. That’s why we have taken the liberty to sit down with the CEO and put together a reading list:

Recommended Reading List:

  • Think and Grow Rich written by Napoleon Hill
  • Unlimited Power written by author and motivational speaker Anthony Robbins
  • Rich Dad Poor Dad written by Robert Kiyosaki
  • The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari written by Robin Sharma, a writer and motivational speaker
  • Losing My Virginity: The Autobiography by businessman Richard Branson

“The common theme in all of the books that I have read is that everything begins in the mind. The most important skill that everyone needs to learn is that they are the master of their own thoughts. If you want to achieve anything in life you must have a clear vision of it in your mind,” says Mike. “The power of clarity is very important. You need to be able to picture it in your mind before you attempt to achieve it,” concludes Mike.

We hope you find some inspiration in these books for your future success.
