The American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute

The Educational Institute (EI) was founded in 1953 to provide working hospitality professionals with education and training.  Today EI continues to meet the needs of the hospitality industry by providing materials for all levels of hospitality personnel through online learning, professional certification, and textbooks and resources for high schools, colleges, and workforce agencies.
Operating in over 45 countries, the AHLEI has been teaching leaders in the hospitality industry for over 60 years. AHLEI published hospitality textbooks and courses that are used in more than 3,000 universities, colleges, hotel schools, vocational/technical institutes, and high schools throughout the world. AHLEI courses are developed with input from hospitality industry professionals and reflect the most current industry practices and trends.

Through our long association with AHLEI, IHS has access to the wide range of books, programmes, videos, and web-based learning material which shows students how to apply the concepts they learn in the classroom. This material is constantly updated to meet industry needs. As the only hotel school in South Africa whose diplomas are recognised by the AHLEI, our graduates are highly sought after by leading hospitality establishments locally and internationally.
