The Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET)

Higher Education

The International Hotel School is registered as a Private Higher Education Institution with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) for the qualifications as per Registration No: 2000/HE07/005

Further Education and Training

The International Hotel School is Provisionally registered as a Private FET College with DHET for the qualifications  as per Registration No: 2009/FE07/077 (Expiry date: 31/12/2015)

Council on Higher Education

The International Hotel School is registered with the Council on Higher Education (CHE) as a Private Higher Education Training Institution, and our Full Time Diploma Programmes are accredited by CHE.

Cathsseta

full time diploma programmesAt IHS we offer a number of Cathsseta (the Culture, Art, Tourism, Hospitality and Sport Education and Training Authority, is the Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) established under the Skills Development Act (No 97 of 1998) [the Skills Act] for the Tourism, Hospitality and Sport Economic Sector) accredited programmes within our Traineeship and Christina Martin Culinary Arts programmes.

SAQA

All qualifications in South Africa need to be registered with the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA). Our two Full Time Diploma Programmes are registered with SAQA. (Look up International Hotel School as an Accredited Provider in this search link) Our THETA and City and Guilds courses are all registered with SAQA under the names of the training authority.

AHLEI

The American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI) was founded in 1950 to serve the needs of the Hilton, Holiday Inn, and Marriot Hotels amongst others, and has become the worldwide benchmark in Hospitality Training.

Operating in over 54 countries, the AHLEI has been teaching leaders in the hospitality industry for over 50 years. AHLEI published hospitality textbooks and courses that are used in more than 3,000 universities, colleges, hotel schools, vocational/technical institutes, and high schools throughout the world. AHLEI courses are developed with input from hospitality industry professionals and reflect the most current industry practices and trends.

IHS, as a master licensee in South Africa, has access to the wide range of books, programmes, videos, and web-based learning material which shows students how to apply the concepts they learn in the classroom. This material is constantly updated to meet industry needs. As the only hotel school in South Africa whose diplomas are recognised by the AHLEI, our graduates are highly sought after by leading hospitality establishments locally and internationally.

City and Guilds

City and Guilds

City & Guilds Group is the UK’s leading vocational awarding organisation. Since their inception over 130 years ago, they have grown and now operate in over 100 countries worldwide, and issue 1.8 million certificates every year. IHS campuses are all City and Guilds centres, and a number of City and Guilds certificate courses are offered as part of our Traineeship and Christina Martin Culinary Arts programmes.
