Students from other countries may study at The International Hotel School upon successfully obtaining the relevant study visas attainable from the South African Embassy or Consulate in their country of residence.
Please note that according to South African legislation all international students require:
- A valid passport and study permit.
- Full medical cover with a South African based medical aid scheme.
- A proven ability to support themselves financially and to settle their fees.
Language requirement
The medium of instruction and examination at The International Hotel School is English. International applicants for whom English is a second language are required to undergo and pass specific language tests set by The International Hotel School. All applications from international applicants are assessed individually.

Guide for International Applicants and Applicants with Non-South African Qualifications
The normal closing date for applications, for the intake of the academic year starting at the end of January of each year, is 31 October of the previous year. We will, however, accept late registrations, pending the circumstances. Since it takes a lot of time to comply with all the necessary requirements, we recommend that you start with the application process as soon as possible.
The duration of the academic year is from the last week of January until the beginning of December. Students for the July intake should apply no later than 30 April of that year.
