Two year Hotel Operations Diploma Programme
This City & Guilds based two year programme provides students with the relevant theory, skills and practical experience ideal for those wishing to make their career in the field of hospitality operations. The programme covers the disciplines of Food and Beverage Service, Reception Operations and Services and Accommodation Operations and Services.
This programme consists of 50% class work (knowledge and skills development) and 50% experiential learning. The International Hotel School will place students in hotels and other leading hospitality establishments for the experiential learning component of the programme. Working in the industry will enable students to gain valuable knowledge and experience. Scheduled in 3 month rotations, on completion of the programme, students will have spent one year on campus concentrating on knowledge and skills development and one year in industry gaining vital work experience.

Students are required to write examinations and complete Portfolios of Evidence for each area of specialisation.
Certification:
- City & Guilds Certificate and Diploma in Accommodation Operations and Services: partial completion of the SAQA registered qualification ID 65831
- City & Guilds Certificate and Diploma in Reception Operations and Services: partial completion of the qualification with SAQA ID 65829
- City & Guilds Certificate and Diploma in Food and Beverage Operations and Services: partial completion of the SAQA registered qualification ID 73293
- Cape Wine Academy: Wine Service
- Basic First Aid Certificate
Minimum Entry Requirement:
- Grade 10
- At least 18 years of age during their first year of study
Duration:
- 2 years
- January and June intake
Cost:
- R31 000.00 for the first year of study and includes all learning material and examination fees (excludes uniforms and stationery).
Payment options
Fees can be paid in 3 ways:
Option 1 – Early Payment Option (R31 000)
An initial Non-Refundable payment of R5 000 is payable on acceptance. If full payment of the balance of R26 000 is made by 19 December 2011.- Option 2 – Full Payment by Registration Day (R31 000)
An initial Non-Refundable payment of R5 000 is payable on acceptance. An initial payment of R13 000.00 is due by 19 December 2011. Your second payment of R13 000.00 is due on Registration Day (9 January 2012 - Option 3 – Late Payment Option Fee (R31 000)
An initial Non Refundable payment of R5 000 is payable on acceptance. A first payment of R5 200.00 is due by the 19 December 2011 followed by 8 equal payments of R2 600.00 due by the end of February, March, April, May, June, July, August, and September 2012.
Additional Costs:
NB: the following are estimated prices and are subject to supplier’s costs and annual increases:
- Uniforms ~ ± R3 000 *
Approved items of clothing are readily available at selected suppliers - Supplementary Examinations (re-writes) per exam ~ ± R1 400 **
** These are external exams and the fees are determined by City & Guilds - Outings throughout the year (estimate only) ~ ± R350

Accommodation: (Early booking is essential)
- Optional accommodation is available on the campus at an additional cost – please enquire at each campus as to the cost of the accommodation.
- Accommodation provided is single or shared rooms. Senior students are given preference regarding the larger, single rooms.
- A deposit to the value of one month’s rent is required. Sponsors are required to sign a 6-month contract.
- There is a communal kitchen for the preparation of own meals.
- There is also a student/visitor’s lounge and a laundry facility
- All rooms are fully furnished
The qualifications achieved are accredited by City &Guilds, and The International Hotel School is registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET), something few providers, are able to claim.
