She's penned cookbooks, magazine columns, and can be seen and heard regularly on South African TV and radio. She is also the first South African chef to be signed by the Food Network in UK, Middle East and Africa to host her own culinary show! Having made it onto the Oprah Powerlist 2012, Jenny Morris is a force to be reckoned with, both in and out of the kitchen...
In 1997, Jenny opened the ‘Cook’s Playground’, a wildly-popular cooking school and catering company. She teaches practical hands-on cooking courses at her cooking school, these include the CooksParties™, TeamCooking™ and SingleCooks™ classes, all of which have fun and laughter as a core ingredient.
When she’s not inspiring and teaching future foodies, she is the one making food look good for glossies. Jenny is the food editor for The Next 48 Hours and contributes to Oprah Magazine as well.
Cooking with Jenny Morris
Famous for her cookbooks, “Rude Food Nude Food Good Food” and “More Rude Food Nude Food Good Food”, Jenny has built a reputation as a fun, wicked chef who entertains and satisfies with her food and good sense of humour. Her third book titled “Cooking With Jenny Morris” was released in 2012, and her fourth is eagerly anticipated in 2013.
Speaking of her love of food, and how she’s turned it into a successful career, Jenny says:
I never bite off more than I can chew, having said that I have a huge mouth, but never take on more than I can. I love to over-deliver – that’s what drives me.”
Her love of flavours has certainly taken her places and impressed some very fancy people. Jenny has cooked for top personalities and dignitaries such as Prince Charles, Thabo Mbeki, Kenneth Kaunda, Charlize Theron, and Al Gore.
The Giggling Gourmet’s culinary products
Her presence is regularly demanded at food festivals and expos, both locally and internationally. Jenny is often called on by big brands for recipe and menu development and to promote and demonstrate culinary products. As if that wasn’t enough, Jenny is also a board member of and an examiner for The Culinary Academy.
She’s also branched out and has lent her name to her own stylish range of culinary products, utensils, and even has a range of condiments as well. Her love of flavours can sweep you off on an international taste journey, too!
The Giggling Gourmet FoodTours™ is another of Jenny’s ideas that has blossomed into a booming programme of culinary trips. Go to places that enable you to experience the true heart of the food and culture of destinations like as Thailand, Malaysia, Borneo, Vietnam, Cambodia, Singapore, Hong Kong, mainland China and Morocco. Future destinations include Australia, Italy, Ireland and South America as well as inbound trips to South Africa.
Famous foodie on TV
In the past nine years, Jenny Morris has broadcast over 1,000 radio shows and 26 local TV and many inserts for international TV shows. She hosts a radio show on 567 CapeTalk on Thursdays at 14h00. On Sundays you can hear her at 08h30 on Talk Radio 702, where she’s earned a place in listeners’ hearts with advice for couples creating their first kitchen, giving dinner parties, and how to keep the romance sizzling.
Through her first show, Jenny Morris Cooks Morocco, takes you on a culinary adventure, exploring the diverse culture and dishes of Morocco and shows you how to bring this fresh, fragrant style of cooking into your own kitchen.
The second season of her show will be called “Jenny Morris cooks the Riviera” and will explore the rustic and rich tastes of the Mediterranean, paying particular attention to French and Italian cuisine. The show will be aired on FoodNetwork on DStv Channel 175.
